Our Lady Indians are the 2003 State Runner-Up in Class 1A-4A. Here is the first piece of hardware for East Limestone on the soccer field (photo) and the first hardware of any kind in a long time. It certainly won't be the last. Indian Springs won the finals 2-0 to win the 2003 State Championship. Indian Springs scored in the 23rd minute on a goal by Sara Kim, assisted by Jennifer Whitley. Halftime score was 1-0. After a scoreless first 32 minutes of the second half, Indian Springs scored on a goal by Katherine Whitley, assisted by Sara Kim. Congratulations to Indian Springs on winning the State Championship. Congratulations to our own Lady Indians for putting East Limestone on the "map" in Varsity Girls soccer. We have been playing at the varsity level for 5 years, and our seniors have been there every step of the way. Our returning players have some big shoes to fill, but we are confident that our success will continue for years to come. Thanks to the players and coaches for a most memorable and rewarding year.

Game 17 - East 2, St. James 1 (Semi-Final)

Our Lady Indians scored the go ahead goal 5:21 into the second half and hung on for a 2-1 victory over a very good St. James team. St. James struck first at 15:46 into the first half on a goal by Maude Crepault. East tied the game when Erica Glidewell scored at the 31:19 mark off an assist by Jae Keiser. Early in the second half, Erica Glidewell scored her second goal to give the Indians their first lead. Jackie Tubb assisted on the goal. The Indians then played some good defense for the last 34 minutes to seal the victory. Jessica Gibbs and Ashley Durham shared the goalkeeping duties. Ashley made a game saving save in the last minute of the game. Many thanks to our best crowd of supporters so far this year. Please come back for the finals tomorrow at 9:00a on the same field. Game 16 - East 5, Mars Hill 2 (Round 2)

Our Lady Indians made history today with a 5-2 victory over Mars Hill. With the win, East advances to the final 4 for the first time. After a scoreless first 30 minutes, East took the lead on a goal by Ashley Durham, assisted by Sara Turner. Sara Turner added a goal less than 4 minutes later with an assist by Erica Glidewell. With less than 2 minutes left in the half, Ashley Durham's indirect kick found Sara Turner, who scored to give the Indians a 3-0 halftime lead. Just six minutes into the second half, Ashley Durham scored her second goal to extend the lead to 4-0. Mars Hill got on the board in the 18th minute with a goal by Cara Highfield, assisted by Claire Mitchell. Claire Mitchell scored in the 28th minute to close the gap to 4-2. Sara Turner scored her third goal in the 38th minute to provide the final margin. Jessica Gibbs and Ashley Durham shared the goalkeeping duties.

Our Lady Indians scored 3 goals in the last 17 minutes to break a 1-1 tie and defeat the Westminster Wildcats 4-1. Erica Glidewell scored the lone first half goal at the 18 minute mark. Jackie Tubb got the assist. Early in the second half, Amy Shipman scored for the Wildcats to tie the game. The next 19 minutes went scoreless. East took the lead at the 23 minute mark on a goal by Jackie Tubb, assisted by Ashley Durham. East broke the game open in the last 10 minutes with 2 more goals by Jackie Tubb. Sara Turner got the assist on both goals. East advances to Round 2 of the state playoffs on Saturday.

Our Lady Indians defeated Athens 4-0 for our tenth win of the season. Jackie Tubb scored 9 minutes into the game, assisted by Sara Turner. Erica Glidewell scored at the 37 minute mark, assisted by Caroline O'Neill. East led 2-0 at the half. Erica Glidewell scored 13 minutes into the second half to extend the lead to 3-0. Sara Turner scored the final goal at the 29 minute mark, assisted by Jackie Tubb. Before the game, our Seniors were recognized. They are Erica Glidewell, Ashley Durham, Shannon Reynolds, and Shannon Everett. These young ladies have been very instrumental in building a solid program over the past few years. We also recognized our exchange student Stephanie Brandt, from Dortmund, Germany. Both teams play tomorrow in Round 1 of the state playoffs. Athens will play at Huntsville, while East hosts Westminster. Good luck to both teams!!!

Our Lady Indians lost to Mars Hill 6-2 in a non-sectional match. Paige Boersma scored 2 minutes into the game to give East the early lead. Mars Hill answered with 4 goals to take a 4-1 halftime lead. Ashley Durham scored 11 minutes into the second half off a Sara Turner corner kick to close the gap to 4-2. Mars Hill answered with a quick goal and added another later in the second half for the final margin. Ashley Durham, Caroline O'Neill, and Jessica Gibbs shared the goalkeeping duties.

The road gets tougher next week as the Lady Indians close out the regular season next week with Mars Hill, Athens, and Bob Jones.
